About Us

WHO WE ARE

Dr. Ashley Jones is a board-certified veterinary cardiologist & the founder of Trillium Veterinary Cardiology. She grew up in the Niagara Region and is excited to call this home again. She completed her undergraduate degree at McMaster University and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College, where she graduated with distinction. She remained at OVC to complete a rigorous one-year small animal internship and then moved to Gainesville, Florida to complete a three-year cardiology residency and an additional one-year research and teaching fellowship at the University of Florida (Go Gators!). During her training, Dr. Jones attended weekly rounds with the pediatric cardiologists from UF Shands Health Hospital, one of the top-rated hospitals in the USA. Following completion of the ACVIM certification process, including two board exams, Dr. Jones worked at large tertiary referral hospitals in Boston and Chicago, providing care to numerous pets with heart disease. She continues to contribute to the advancement of veterinary cardiac medicine through publication of several peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters. She has also lectured at various conferences, including the OVMA Conference in January 2020.

Dr. Jones has a passion for delivering the highest level of care to animals with cardiac disease, while providing pet owners with sufficient knowledge and support, so that they can care for their adored furry family member at home. She is excited to make advanced cardiac care more accessible in Ontario by providing mobile diagnostic services.

Outside of work, Dr. Jones enjoys running, spin classes, figure skating (which she did competitively for many years) and most importantly spending time with her family, including her niece, nephew and her maltese, “Daisy”.

If you would like to have Dr. Jones evaluate your pet’s heart, please contact your family veterinarian to inquire about availability. We are unfortunately not able to provide information directly to pet owners over the phone or by email, but we would be honoured to be a part of the healthcare team for your pet through collaboration with your trusted veterinarian. Your veterinarian will also be able to provide you with a cost estimate, as this can vary depending on which tests are needed to complete the cardiac evaluation.
